The general election on November 7 means continuous preparation for the Trigg County Board of Elections. County Clerk and Board Chairperson Wanda Thomas said that the county was “getting geared up.”

Thomas said that absentee ballots would be mailed starting September 18 for military personnel overseas, college students, those who were ill or physically unable to go to polls, and those who could not vote at an absentee machine at the County Courthouse Annex during regular business hours.

The last day to register to vote is October 9, with books formally closing on October 10.

The board also agreed to open the absentee voting machine at the Courthouse Annex on October 16. The machine will be available to anyone who qualifies as being absent on Election Day. The board also agreed to keep the same polling places as have been used in the past.

Thomas said she planned to purchase a de-humidifier to protect the new handicapped accessible voting machines, and signs to better instruct voters on their operation.
