Tenacious defense, along with strong running, mixed with tunnel-vision focus equaled a victory for the Trigg County Middle School Football team as they handedly defeated the Christian County Cornels 32-12 to claim their first Southern Pennyrile Athletic Conference (SPAC) Middle School Football Championship.

During the first quarter of play, Alonzo Lewis blocked a punt giving Trigg the football. But, later in the quarter, Christian scored a touchdown from several yards out giving them a 6-0 lead by the close of the quarter. But Trigg was focused. The Midcats were coming for redemption from their 26-6 loss two weeks ago to Christian County. The second quarter was proof of that.

After Akeem Johnson tied the score 6-6 as a result from a 20-yard touchdown run, Chris McKenzie recovered a fumble. Later in the quarter, Zack White ran for a 20-yard touchdown giving the Midcats a 12-6 lead. An interception by Shannon Tabor resulted in Zack White bulling in from 30 yards for his second touchdown, increasing Trigg's lead to 18-6. The end of the quarter witnessed another interception, this time by Zack White. The Midcats were all over the Stadium of Champions, collecting fumbles, intercepting balls and scoring touchdowns during the second quarter of play.

After a scoreless third quarter, Trigg increased the heat on Christian. Akeem Johnson scurried in 15 yards for his second touchdown. After Akeem's score, Alonzo Lewis received a pass from Zack White and increased Trigg's lead to 26-6. Trigg's last score came from a pick via Zack White, which he returned for a 30 yard score, upping Trigg's lead, once again, to 32-6. Christian scored with one second left making the final score Trigg County 32 - Christian County 6. The Midcats ended their season with a 5 - 1 conference record and the SPAC Championship.
