Rev. Gary Turner officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mrs. Higgins died on Friday, November 17, 2006, at 3:10 p.m., at Shady Lawn Nursing Center of natural causes.
Mrs. Higgins was born on April 22, 1913, in Golden Pond, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Edward Young and Oina Birdsong Turner.
Mrs. Higgins was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton Higgins in July 1985; a son, Virgil Higgins; daughter, Doris Calhoun; three brothers, George Turner, Guy Turner, and Olin Shaw Turner; and two sisters, Viona Ratliff, and Reba Allen.
Survivors include son-in-law, Kelsie Calhoun of Cadiz; daughter-in-law, Shirley Higgins of Chesterfield, Mich.; five grandchildren, Tracey Calhoun, Mike Calhoun, Tim Higgins, Matt Higgins, and Lori Bailey; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary Calhoun, Nick Calhoun, Lauren Calhoun, Rodney Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Tad Bailey, Matthew Higgins, Amber Higgins, and April Smith; two great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dot Turner of Murray.
Martha Fortner, organist, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Calhoun, Jim Allen, Tim Higgins, Matt Higgins, Tracey Calhoun, Zachary Calhoun, and Larry Huddleston.
