Funeral services for James Riley Bailey, 91, of Hopkinsville, were conducted on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Revs. John Hagan and Kinnith Morris officiated at the services. Burial followed in Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz with Military Honors provided by Pennyrile Area Honor Guards.

Mr. Bailey died on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 4:10 a.m., at Christian Health Care in Hopkinsville of natural causes.

Mr. Bailey was born on July 20, 1915, in Stewart County, Tenn. He was the son of the late John Thomas and Minnie Crutcher Bailey.

Mr. Bailey was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII; was a retired State Employee from the Department of Transportation; was a farmer; was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church; and sang and led gospel music for 75 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Outland Bailey in August 2002; three brothers, Homer Bailey, Loman Bailey, and Euless Bailey; and two sisters, Beulah Coleman and Cora Crotzer.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Delpha Bailey of Hopkinsville; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Joshua Ryan and Teresa Bailey of Hopkinsville, and Andrew Todd and Katie Bailey of Nashville, Tenn.; a great-granddaughter, Riley Elizabeth Bailey; sister-in-law, Cozie Outland of Hopkinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Vicki Bridges, organist, Locust Grove Church Choir, Jim Outland, and Jim Bob Outland, vocalists, provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Joshua Bailey, Todd Bailey, Bobby Shemwell, Bill Outland, Don Bailey, Gene Bailey, Gayle Outland, and Jimmy Outland.
