Kenny Rogers and Rev. Wayne Glass officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Little River Cemetery in Trigg County.
Mr. Lyons died on Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at 5 p.m., at the Beverly Health Care in Springfield, Tenn., of natural causes.
Mr. Lyons was born on March 9, 1920, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Joseph Bently and Garvie Ellen Calhoun Lyons.
Mr. Lyons was a retired farmer, a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon; and was a member of Woodman of the World.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Dell Lyons; two brothers, Thomas Lyons and W.C. Lyons; and three sisters, Ophia Cunningham, Lurlene Curling, and Alberta Rogers.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Lyons; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Robert Latham of Elkton; step sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Slezak of Silver Springs, Fla., Edmund and Sherry Slezak, III, and Ricky and Debra Slezak, all of Parkhill, Mo.; step daughters and son-in-law, Glenda and Marlin Brown of Chapmansboro, Tenn., and Misty Thrash of Crossville, Tenn.; a brother, Homer Lyons of Montgomery, Ind.; two grandchildren, Todd Latham and Beth Casey; and four great-grandchildren, Karen Latham, Kevin Latham, Carley Casey, and Edye Casey.
Misty Thrash, Jeff Alred, and Missy Fowler, vocalists, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Mack Brown, Jeff Alred, Bryan Rogers, Jason Rogers, Edward Tyler, Jr., Edward McCormick, Thomas Ray Lyons, and Harold Knight.
Honorary pallbearers were Lewis McCormick, Hulit Oliver, Johnny Hicks, and Dorris Cunningham.
