Rev. Jeffrey J. DiMatties officiated at the services. Burial followed in New Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
Mr. McGinnis died unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2006, at 7:52 p.m., at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center Emergency Room.
Mr. McGinnis was born on September 20, 1924, in Christian County. He was the son of the late Owen Holly and Annie Mae Perry McGinnis.
Mr. McGinnis was a long-time employee of the old General Mills until it closed, then held a Civil Service position with the Post Engineers until his retirement; was a member of St. John United Methodist Church; and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Barbara Lee McGinnis in 1982, and Ryan Thomas McGinnis in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Juadell VanHoose McGinnis; two sons, Owen Thomas McGinnis, Jr., of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Superintendent of Trigg County Schools, Timothy Dale McGinnis of Cadiz; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Allison Fort of Hopkinsville, Susan McGinnis of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Nada and Scott Fountain of Hopkinsville; a brother, Roy Douglas McGinnis of Hopkinsville; seven grandchildren, Kerry Fort, Katie Fort, Holly Amato, Clay McGinnis, Lacey McGinnis, Alexandra Fountain, and Blake Fountain; four great-grandchildren, Riley Fort, Allie Fort, Ryan Amato, and Brinlee Amato.
Serving as pallbearers were Aaron Hill, Donnie Scott, Roy Crunk, Kerry Fort, Clay McGinnis, Allison Fort, Boyce Smith, Scott Fountain, and Blake Fountain.
Honorary pallbearers were C.M. Blake, Randall Young, Billy Wagoner, Richard Leavell, and Frank McCargo.
