Funeral services for J.W. Hobby, 84 of Princeton, were conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2007, at 1 p.m., at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Rev. Roger Felker, assisted by Rev. Jim Porter, officiated at the services. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Mr. Hobby died on Monday, January 1, 2007, at 2:14 p.m., at Caldwell County Hospital following a long illness.

Mr. Hobby was born on December 13, 1922, in Caldwell County. He was the son of the late Alvin Henry and Myrtle Lou Lane Hobby.

Mr. Hobby was retired from the State Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator; was a veteran of the U.S. Army; and attended Union Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Ruth Miller Hobby of Princeton; two daughters, Phylliss Griffin and Mary Blick, both of Princeton; three grandchildren, Ricky Warfield, Todd Griffin, and Chris Griffin; five great-grandchildren, Haley Griffin, Emily Griffin, Brandon Warfield, Cameron Warfield, and Avery Warfield.

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Travis, James Dunning, Robert Beckner, Perry Kennady, Jimmy Canada, and David Creekmur.
