Funeral services for James Phillip “Jimmy” Merrick, 65, of Cadiz, were conducted on Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at 11 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Ronnie Sivells officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Caldwell Blue Spring Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Mr. Merrick died on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at 8:45 p.m., at the University of Louisville Hospital following a short illness.

Mr. Merrick was born on August 24, 1941, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late William Henry and Henry Lovie Reddick Merrick.

Mr. Merrick was a Heavy Equipment Operator, Carpenter, and a Farmer, and was a member of Canton Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Norris Merrick, Bobbie Merrick, Willie Merrick, and Thomas Merrick.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wyatt Merrick of Cadiz; a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Serada Merrick of Louisville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Terry Stallons of Cadiz; four brothers, William E. Merrick of Princeton, Richard Merrick of Morganfield, Lucian Merrick of St. Charles, and Amos Merrick of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Mary Jones of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Terra Joy Stallons, Matthew Lee Stallons, and Amy Nichole Merrick Shepherd; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Shepherd and Cameron Shepherd.

Becky Freeman, vocalist, and Barbara Jean Futrell, pianist provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Travis Carneyhan, Joe Lee Terrell, Matt Rogers, Scott Jolly, Johnny Boyd, and Billy Earl Sumner.
