Funeral services for Virginia Pearl Duncan, 83, of Caldwell County, were conducted on Friday, March 9, 2007, at 11 a.m., at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Rev. Rodney Wallace officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Piney Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Duncan died on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at 6:30 a.m., at her home following a short illness.

Mrs. Duncan was born on July 1, 1923, in Caldwell County. She was the daughter of the late William Harve and Pearl Chapman Claxton.

Mrs. Duncan was a retired nurse at Caldwell County Hospital, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Duncan; three sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include two sons, James G. Blackburn and Jerry W. Blackburn, both of Caldwell County; three daughters, Barbara J. Stevenson of Caldwell County, Betty J. Gilkey of Lyon County, and Deborah L. Keele of Paducah; a brother, Garnet Claxton of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Zona Bell Sherman of St. Charles, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
