The report said that a 1994 Ford Tempo, driven by 19 year-old Michael R. Hamilton stopped at the intersection on 272 heading westbound. Hamilton stopped at the intersection, which he believed to be a four-way stop.
He proceeded to enter the intersection with a 1997 Ford F150 driven by 32 year-old Brian Wiegand, heading northbound on 139.
Police say that Wiegand attempted to avoid the first vehicle, but struck it on the driver’s door.
Though Wiegand was the only occupant of his vehicle, the Ford contained three other passengers. Along with Hamilton and Wiegand, Felicia Whittaker, 18; Jessida Keenan, 17; and Brandi Cordero, 18 were transported to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of injuries. The report said that Keenan and Cordero were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. All other occupants of the two vehicles wore them.
Assisting the KSP at the scene were the Trigg County Rescue Squad, Trigg County EMS and Trigg County Sheriff’s Department.
No citations were issued to either driver in the accident.
