“The Wiz” was premiered on Broadway in 1975, with a movie following in 1978 starring Diana Ross, Machael Jackson and Richard Pryor. It tells basically the same story as “The Wizard of Oz,” but plenty of soul music.
Ezell said there will be 320 seats available for each performance and that it would be a good idea to buy tickets now. They are available for purchase at Eldora’s Books, Etc., the Trigg County Board of Education and at the Janice Mason Art Museum. Ezell said that word of mouth increased viewers for last year’s summer musical, “Seussical,” and that some had to be turned away at the door because the theater had reached capacity.
Ezell mentioned an older man she met last year who had come to the show to see his neighbor’s child perform. He had gone more out of a sense of obligation than out of desire, but told her he hadn’t known what to expect. He and his wife enjoyed the show so much that they came back the following weekend.
