Cadiz Police Chief and Board Chair Hollis Alexander said that the session clarified policy about whom 911 Director Kim Wiggins reported to in the overall chain of command. “We took no action in the session, but the policy is spelled out in the newly revised Standard Operating Procedures. For day-to-day operations she reports to the board of directors, and for financial matters, she reports to the Trigg County Judge/Executive. We had some questions that didn’t need to be publicized.”
According to Kentucky Open Meetings Laws, committees may vote to go into executive session if a voting quorum is present to discuss personnel issues including hiring, firing or disciplinary actions, acquisition of land or pending litigation.
“The board agreed that the organization was clear-cut in the SOP,” said Alexander who did not elaborate further.
Earlier in the meeting, Wiggins introduced a revised copy of the Manual of Standard Operating Procedures. “A few things have been revised. I added protocols for suspicious vehicles to the section on vehicle theft. We now have officer down procedures. It stops all unnecessary traffic on the radio to focus on the emergency. If we have this situation, there will be no other radio traffic than that. If we have a hostage situation, our emergency management director will be notified due to a request from law enforcement.”
