“Representative Whitfield is working on the Water Resource Development Act, which is currently in a conference committee. When they work out the wording on the bill, it will go before congress for a vote. If approved, it could go into effect as early as next spring,” said Pape of a bill to maintain area lakes at a summer pool level until as late as Labor Day. The higher water level permits boaters to enjoy the lake for a longer period, possibly attracting more tourists to the area.
