Bro. Norris Gaither Hite, 84, of Lawrenceburg, died Wed., July 18, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.      ‘

He was born August 29, 1922 in Trigg County, KY to the late Edd & Ida Sally Dearing

Hite.  He was a Baptist Minister and served several churches in Christian County, Harlan and Scottsville, KY, he also served several churches in Tennessee including the Old Hickory First Baptist Church where he retired in 1987 after 24 years of service. He was a 1942 graduate of Sinking Fork High School in Christian County, a graduate of the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville and the Cumberland College in Tennessee, and attended Western Kentucky University. He was a former member of the Executive Board of Life Way Christian Resources in Nashville, TN, a former Secretary of the Executive Board of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, a former Trustee at the Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY, and a former Trustee at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He was one of the first radio announcers for WHOP in Hopkinsville, KY, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1942. He was a Fellow in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Louise Turner Hite of Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Frances Ann Wilkins and her husband Joe of Lawrenceburg and Carol Kelley of Highland Heights, KY; a son, David Hite of Old Hickory, TN; six grandchildren Brent Wilkins, Kevin Wilkins, & Susan Baker all of Frankfort, Emilie Vreeland of Covington, Russ Kelley of Oregon, and Amy Hite of Old Hickory, TN; five great grandchildren, Nick Wilkens, Neal Wilkins, Ethan Baker and Carma Wilkins, all of Frankfort, and Riley Wells of Old Hickory, TN.

Including his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Emmitt, Earl, Darwin and Cecil Hite; and a sister, Mamie Light.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Sat., July 21, 2007 at the Old Hickory First Baptist Church, 1106 Hadley Ave., Old Hickory, TN with Bro. Jud Hayes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville, KY.  Friends may call from 6 – 9 pm, Friday and after 8 am, Sat. at the church.
