On March 14th, Daniel Pope (The Night Sky) wrote, “The Babylonians are credited with inventing the zodiac.” In the Bible, the Babylonians took Israel captive and took all the knowledge they had, their temple treasures, etc. to Babylon. (2 Chronicles 36). I believe it is from this knowledge that the Babylonians learned about the signs of the zodiac. Or they learned it from the Egyptians, because I was taught that the 12 tribes of Israel had the zodiac on their banners when they were in the wilderness. Judah being the sign of the Lion, etc.
I also found the article on June 6th and August 1st to be interesting. Isn’t it interesting that it doesn’t matter if Hercules is right-side-up or upside-down, he still has his heal on the head of a snake. Either it is on Draco as Daniel Pope stated, or as I learned, it is on Serpens which Ophiuchus is holding. The idea of a man with his foot on the head of a snake is first seen in Genesis 3:15, when God gave the promise of the Christ child to the woman after Adam sinned.
