Wednesday afternoon’s Judicial Center Project Development Board Meeting will mark the end of the preconstruction phase of the new Downtown Justice Center, with the award of contracts among several builders and tradesmen.

Using the sum of the lowest bids in every category, the cost of the building is estimated to be $9,276,940. Administrative Office of the Courts Representative Vance Mitchell said the project’s construction budget has been set at $8.3 million.

The project, in its pre-construction phase for over a year-and-a-half, will begin with demolition of the old Trigg County Courthouse once contracts have been awarded, and plans are completed to raze the building.
