It was deja-vu for The Trigg County High School Girl’s Soccer team when they faced a very similar opponent at the John Rufli Soccer Complex on Saturday. Girl Soccer players from Trigg County’s yester-years came back to suit up and play a game against today’s Trigg County girl’s team.

There were two men, Roman Cail and Zach Thompson, needed to play in the game to fill a few holes. After halftime, Cail and Thompson were joined by Mike Smith, the Trigg County Girl’s Soccer team head coach.

By Smith being on the field and playing against the girls he has been coaching, he had the closest view possible to determine exactly how they have progressed throughout the summer.

“They are great. They have come leaps and bounds from last year,” said an impressed coach Smith, “it is amazing: their cuts, movement, passing, all of it.”

It comes as not a great surprise, though, since there were only two seniors on the team last year. Many of these girls got much needed game experience that not only builds their ability, but builds confidence and lessens the pressure and anxiety felt by inexperienced players.
