The Trigg County Volleyball team got their season started in the right direction last Tuesday night by defeating Todd County 25-20, 25-14. The J.V. team lost 21-16, 18-21, 18-21.

In the first game the Cats came out with tremendous movement and communication but grew a little complacent as they built a lead. After Todd County mounted a small comeback, Trigg put it away to end the first game.

“At moments they looked really good,” said head coach Rick Erickson, “but they just were not being aggressive enough, they quit working and got lazy”.

In game two the girls fell to an early deficit at 1-4 but quickly came back when Molly Thompson served for six straight points. They never looked back as Todd County could not find an answer to Trigg County’s game in the middle. Every time Todd was able to get the volley back over the net, Trigg had a girl ready to dig the ball before any damage was done. Casey Bannister began to serve for the Cats with a score of 16-12 and rattled off eight straight points and then Trigg put it away from there.

Erickson knew that this was just the beginning, “It is the first game, the first real test. We mixed up the lineups a lot and experimented.”
