The board is looking into building a motocross race track to hold events one and generate revenue to not only the complex but the entire county. If everything goes as planned there will be six to eight races scheduled at the complex. It was estimated that $10,000 to $12,000 would be made at every race. If Regional Qualifying races are able to be scheduled here, that will bring thousands of people to Cadiz to participate and watch the races. That will generate tens of thousands of dollars to the complex, restaurants, hotels, motels, gas stations, any other business in town. One practice a week would be held for riders which will bring in over $1,000 a week.
There are, of course, expenses to this plan. All proceeds will have to be split with Steve Ezell, the promoter, who is in charge of many of the responsibilities. A 60 percent-40 percent split, with Ezell getting 60% and the county receiving the rest was estimated at the meeting. The complex will have to insure the track which will cost between $25,000 and $30,000 a year. Water will be needed (7,000 to 10,000 gallons) on a very regular basis to keep the dust down on the track. A promoter is needed for the first year so that word can get around and help get the circuit going. If everything goes as planned, the county will receive 100 percent of the revenue the following year.
