The Trigg County High School boy’s soccer team must be tired after playing first year soccer team Dawson Springs Tuesday August 21. Winning 9-1 will do that to you. It was the first game played on the new soccer surface at the Recreational Complex.

Roman Cail and Trevor Harper both scored 3 goals and Jeremy Stamps added two goals. The other goal was put in by Dawson Springs themselves.

It was the most points scored by the soccer team since the first round of the 2001 District Tournament where Trigg County beat Christian Fellowship 10-0.

The two hat-tricks by Trigg County players was the first since T.C. Bush and Justin Cain scored three goals a piece against Union County in 2000.

“It is kind of what was expected out of a first year team,” said head coach Josh Nichols, talking about Dawson Springs, “the theme of our team all year has been getting chances and then not being able to put them away. We were able to put them away in this game.”

Trigg County went to Muhlenberg North on Thursday, August 23 to face the Stars and lost 3-2. Trigg County had a 2-1 lead with under 8 minutes to play in regulation, but was unable to hold on to the late lead.
