According to Pennyrile’s Media Relations Officer Brent Gilkey, the average residential customer used 15 percent more kilowatt hours of electricity this August as compared to last. Gilkey added that comparing actual bills between this year and last was a difficult task due to a rate decrease in October 2006, and a fuel cost adjustment this year.
Faced with higher usage and subsequently higher bills, Gilkey said that qualified customers meeting guidelines set by the Federal and State Governments could apply for assistance with their abnormally high utility bills from the Pennyrile Area Development District.
