Between number seven (playing lead guitar for the Rolling Stones) and number nine (escorting Ann Margaret to the Oscars). If you don’t remember who these people are please don’t tell me, I am pretending the letters I get from AARP are just a terrible mistake.
As I watched the stands fill up, I was amazed that Trigg County had a bigger turnout than Hopkins Central! It’s a fairly long bumpy ride up the Parkway and it was raining puppies and pitchforks in Cadiz when we left at 5:45, so I wrongly thought many would just root from home.
It’s game time and just like last week our opponents scored first with a long run from Hopkins Central’s Keith Couch. Donald Bush connected with Antonio Grubbs to tie the game at 7. Later in the half John Reinick hit the crossbar on a 40 yard field goal attempt.
With about a minute left in the first half Donald Bush hit Dustin White with a 20-yard pass to put Trigg up 14-7.
The Storm scored first in the third quarter to tighten the score 14-13. The Wildcats answered with about a 30-yard scoring run from Brandon Bridges. Try to focus your camera on Brandon when he’s feeling good!
Trigg up 21-13. John Reinick booted a 27-yarder to increase the Cat’s lead to 24-13. The Storm’s leading receiver Keith Couch caught a pass from QB Powell to bring the score to 24-19. The Storm got busy and drove the ball 80 yards up the field to break the Trigg County fans hearts with a 25-24 lead with only 50 seconds remaining in the game.
It looked like Trigg was leaving 2-1 for the season. I saw people getting up gathering their rain coats in the stands. I got my other camera - with the wide angle lens - to get the “after the game” shot on the field.
