The Cadiz Record has received recognition nationally for its front page design of its annual Bridal Section. The honor came with a $50 check from Metro Creative Graphics.

“First rate advertising ideas don’t just happen,” said an article in the upcoming edition of the Metro Magazine, “They evolve. And that’s exactly what happened with three special sections covers selected as the winners of Metro’s 2007 BonusIdeas Contest.

“By adding local flavor to a tasty basic recipe, the winners transformed a Metro BonusIdea into a made-to-order work of art”

First place was awarded to the Republic Monitor of Republic, Missouri for a Halloween section and coloring contest.

The magazine praised graphic designer Matt Martini, who laid out the special section art for the cover. Martini “worked his magic for the cover of the newspaper’s annual bridal feature in February by combining a BonusIdeas background with several of Metro’s bridal photos. The result was an eye catching and sophisticated collage that reflects both the community and the businesses that support the section.

Martini has since left the newspaper and returned to his home in Memphis.

The Cadiz newspaper produces several special sections during the year that have been recognized by the Kentucky Press Association as some of the best in the state for the newspaper’s circulation class. However, this is the first time a publication has been recognized on a national level for its advertising efforts.
