A June ruling from Circuit Judge Dennis Foust voided the ordinance that had made Wyandot and two other neighborhoods part of the city more than seven years ago. The ruling ousted Council member Donna McNichols, a Wyandot resident, although the council voted 3-2 on July 17 to appoint McNichols to her vacated spot after she began renting a house in town. The council convened for a special called meeting on Aug. 23 and voted on the first reading of an ordinance to declaring the city’s intent to annex Wyandot Village.
Although McNichols was not present at the Sept. 11 meeting, the other five council members approved the second reading of the intent to annex. City Clerk included a list in the council’s packets of the 27 Wyandot households, including her own, that had received letters informing them of the city’s intentions.
