With the old courthouse a memory, and bonds for the new State Justice Center scheduled to be sold beginning September 18, Construction Manager Richard Mitchell of Codell Construction asked the Project Development Board to begin to look at their calendars to select a date for a groundbreaking.

Mitchell said that the board should select “two or three” dates in the next 20-40 days for Kentucky Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph E. Lambert to join in the ceremony.

Design Architect of CMW Architectural said that while he will continue to represent his firm at PDB meetings, he would send another architect Paul Cagle to supervise the work at the downtown construction site. “I’ll be briefed as the job goes along, and will brief the board. So far, I am pleased with the job and how easy it has been.”

Arthur added, “We’ll be bringing some engineers to the site, including structural engineers to look at the foundation and the steel. We’ll also have mechanical and electrical engineers to bring us up to speed. If something goes into the building that is not in the design, we can catch it before it is too late.”
