Ten of Trigg County’s married women competed on Friday night for the coveted title of Mrs. Trigg County Ham Festival. Alice Johnson won the sash and tiara and will enjoy a yearlong reign.

Trescia Lynn Wilkerson. Stephanie Jones, Ginger Birdsong, Erica Lancaster, Rachel Longworth, Robin Hart, Debbie Leigh Armstrong, Mindy Carneyhan and Rachel McGee joined Johnson in the pageant, competing in eveningwear and sportswear categories.

Mrs. Trigg County 1993 Stephanie King directed and sponsored the pageant in which all proceeds go to the Wilson and King Scholarship fund. Former winners of the title were recognized in the audience.

After a promenade in sports and eveningwear, judges reduced the field to five contestants, Carneyhan, Lancaster, Birdsong, McGee and Johnson.

Each contestant answered a randomly chosen question; some included whom the contestant preferred as a role model, Mother Theresa or Princess Dianna of Wales. Other questions concerned the women’s families, such as what the constant would do if their son or daughter was not academically inclined and showed no interest in college.

To begin the coronation of the new Mrs. Trigg County, Debbie Lee Armstrong was named Mrs. Congeniality. Mindy Carneyhan took fourth runner up, Erica Lancaster the third, Ginger Birdsong the second, and to the delight of the audience, Alice Johnson took the crown.
