Rev. Doug Anderson and John D. Bartee, Sr., officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Daniel Vinson Cemetery in Stewart County, Tenn.
Mr. Bartee died on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at 4:55 p.m., at his residence following a long illness.
Mr. Bartee was born on November 20, 1917, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late John Barney and Ambie Shaw Bartee.
Mr. Bartee was a farmer and commercial fisherman; and was a member of Rock Front Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Ballard Bartee; a sister, Mary Wilma Bartee; and a granddaughter, Shannon Bartee.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Myra Shaw Bartee of Cadiz; a son, William David “Bill” Bartee, Jr., of Cadiz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Rev. Douglas Anderson of Madisonville, and Ruth and Jimmie McElroy of McKinney, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Joel Anderson, Julie McKenzie, John Anderson, Shelagh McElroy, Kevin McElroy, and Lindsey Bartee-Fox; 11 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, John D. Bartee, Sr.
Mary Jane Snyder, pianist, and Rev. John Mitchell, vocalist and instrumentalist provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were John Anderson, Joel Anderson, Kevin McElroy, Brian McKenzie, Wallace Litchfield, and Chris McKenzie.
