Main Street is accident waiting to happen

Regarding Alan Reed's column in Oct. 3rd issue of the Record; Is it any wonder that there are 133 accidents so far in Chief Alexander’s jurisdiction?

I would have thought there were more, especially on Main Street. Driving on Main Street in Cadiz is a nightmare.

I believe that some of the absolute worst drivers in the Country drive in Cadiz. When I first moved here 11 years ago, I noticed that drivers here, for the most part, do not give turn signals.

One must try to second - guess Cadiz/Trigg County drivers or read their minds to determine which way they plan to go! I, personally, would spend some of the grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet on driver education.

I followed a City policeman through town on one occasion and he made two turns, neither of which he thought necessary to signal. More traffic citations should be given for this and other violations and I believe some of the accidents could be prevented.

That one must drive defensively in this town is an understatement.

I travel Hwy. 1489 to and from work every weekday. I cannot tell you how many times I have been run off the road by drivers who ignore the center lines and drive in the middle.

What about drivers' ed? The young drivers in Cadiz are woefully negligent about signaling turns even though their driver training has been very recent.

I support traffic lights and anything else that can be done to protect our people from injuries or even death on our roads.

However, our driving population needs to be reminded of proper driving etiquette.
