Funeral services for Kathryn Connie Sweeney Vinson, 84, of Cadiz, were conducted on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at 11 a.m., at the Cadiz Christian Church. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dr. Tom Martin officiated at the services. Stephanie Perry gave a eulogy. Burial followed in the Vinson Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mrs. Vinson died on Monday, October 8, 2007, at 9:15 a.m., at her residence of natural causes.

Mrs. Vinson was born on December 18, 1922, in Lexington. She was the daughter of the late Francis Devine and Bessie Lee Booth Sweeney.

Mrs. Vinson was a retired Dental Hygienist; a homemaker; a member of the Cadiz Christian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, Christian Youth Leader, and was in Christian Women’s Fellowship; was a member of the Homemakers, American Red Cross, Eastern Star, Trigg County Hospital Auxiliary, Shriners Children’s Hospital, and Honorary Co-Chairman for Trigg County Relay For Life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Stanley Vinson in 1996; two grandsons, Craig Patric Perry, II, and Michael Kevin Mitchell; four brothers, William Brownell Sweeney, Carl Madison Sweeney; Alexander Devine Sweeney, and Marvin Spencer Sweeney; three sisters, Mary Hurst Russell, Maudie Louise Sweeney, and Sunshine Irene Sweeney Carey; and foster brother, Oscar Hubert Davidson;

Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Ronald Mitchell of Johnson City, Tenn., Nita and Larry Mott of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jessica and Gary Siegmund and Stephanie and Craig Perry, all of Cadiz; sister, Josephine Royalty of Lexington; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carey Thomas, Jr., and Nell Vinson of Cadiz, and Clyde Roger and Ellen Vinson of Pensacola, Fla.; sister- and brother-in-law, June Theresa and Johnny Yeates of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren, Krista Lea Mitchell, Kyme Anne White, Timothy Vinson Mott, Tyler Christian Mott, Amber Dawn Sigmund, Ashley Anne Broad, Shannon Perry Johnson, and Ronald Weeks; and nine great-grandchildren.

Danny Dickerson and Dan Grigson, vocalists, and Laura Grigson, pianist provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Jonathan Johnson, Ronnie Weeks, Shawn Curling, Edward Robison, James Wynn, and Carl Calhoun.

Honorary pallbearers were Nell Vinson, Gloria Davis, Sara Lewis, Connie Wigger, Peggy Greene, Nancy Adwell, William Price, Don Keys, Joel Garcia Serrano, and the Christian Women’s Fellowship.
