The Wildcat band was a very colorful site in the stands and on the field Friday night. They were the true bright spot of the evening.

I’m standing on the sidelines of Perdue Field once again on a Friday night. The game ending buzzer just sounded and I’m wondering what I just witnessed. I think I went through the entire emotional range from funny (band costumes) to furry (cops on the field) to frustration (game in general). The Fort Campbell Falcons came to avenge their loss last year in the district playoffs at the hands of the Wildcats and avenge they did. Too much. Way too much. Trigg won the toss and chose to kick. The Falcons ran it back for a touchdown. 14 seconds into the game it was 6-0. Two minutes later Troy Turner ran it in, and they got the 2 point conversion, 14-0. Then again. 21-0 with only just a little over 4 minutes off the clock in the first quarter. Okay it was game over. But the Falcons turned up the trash talking. All the way up. I would have been embarrassed if it had been the Wildcats. I was only a few feet away when quarterback Donald Bush was taken down hard. Then with several Falcons on top of him one of them opted to shove him into the ground several times and then I think I saw a foot come in. I heard one say “stay down”. His helmet came off in the melee and his temper went off the charts. I’ve watched Bush play ball since he could walk and have never seen his temper show no matter what the situation. Let me say this, like a good quarterback he never lost his composure. He calmly and sincerely wanted a big bowl of Falcon stew. And his team was behind him. It might have been the deciding moment that will propel Trigg County into the district playoffs. They came together as a team in a split second. If Bush was ejected I was going with him. I had enough photos anyway. Trigg lost 59-7.
