Upon learning he had been selected as Trigg County’s “Person of the Year” Paul Fourshee realized that his time working on a presentation with friend Portia Ezell on the Janice Mason Art Museum was for naught.
Pat Rogers presented Paul Fourshee with the award for Citizen of the Year. Rogers listed Fourshee’s many volunteer endeavors in the community, including his work with the Janice Mason Art Museum’s board of directors, activity within his church and work with the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Fourshee said that he would be recognized in his brief acceptance speech. “I spent the afternoon with Portia (Ezell) working on a completely different speech.”
Pennyrile Electrical Manager Ricky Turner recognized Ned Davis for the Spirit of Trigg County Award. Turner said that Davis distributed over 4,000 ink pens to invite friends and new acquaintances to visit Oak Grove Baptist Church or to support the Oneida Baptist Institute. In collecting donations of supplies, clothing and other items for the school, Turner said that Davis has made 41 trips to Eastern Kentucky to make deliveries in an 18-month period. He added that Davis’s latest efforts have gone towards making the Bright Life Farm for the mentally challenged a success.
Upon accepting his award, a coy and humble Davis said, “My wife asked me to wear a clean shirt, now I know why.” He added, “God Bless Trigg County and the Oneida Baptist Institute.”
Outgoing Chamber of Commerce President gave the award for Trigg County Ambassador of the Year to the Trigg County Economic Development Commission. “They have brought three new industries to the area- Benson International, Superior Walls and GFB Industries.” He also recognized the EDC’s efforts to prepare area students for life in the workforce.
