The members of all Trigg County Extension Homemaker clubs plan to host Candy Cane Land on December 10-11 from 9-11 a.m. at the Cadiz Christian Church Basement. The event allows children enrolled in the Head Start Program to select holiday gifts for parents and siblings.

“This gives kids an opportunity to go in and shop for gifts and chose something for their families,” said Trigg County Family and Consumer Science Agent Brandi Cope. “We’re giving the kids play money this year so they will learn how to spend it.”

Extension Homemaker Club Member Relissa Torian said, “We have all the gifts on a table with a price. Usually, the kids will get one for themselves.”

Cope said that individual members of each homemaking club in the county provided gifts for the event. “They contribute gifts throughout the year and the cost of each one comes out of their pockets.”

The venue for the gift program has moved from the John L. Street Library to the Cadiz Christian Church, according to Cope.
