With two high school students recently selected for All-State Band and two Christmas concerts coming up, band members have a lot to be excited about.

Trumpet player Morgan Snyder and bassoonist Tiffany Dankovic, both juniors, were both accepted into the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s All-State Band after auditioning in Elizabethtown over the weekend. These were two of the seven All-District Band members who auditioned. The others were: Jimmie Harper, Brucie Lambert, Joel Ben Thomas, Eva Watkins and Courtney Harrison.

The first Christmas concert will be with the high school jazz band and the middle school band on Dec. 13. It will be in the high school’s Little Theater at 7 p.m. Director Andrew Mroch said the middle school musicians would be playing “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” by Johnny Marks; “Trombones on the Housetop,” arranged by Mark Williams; “Frosty the Snowman,” by Gerald Sebesky and “Away in a Manger,” by James Ployhar. As of Monday afternoon, the jazz pieces were still being decided.
