Trigg county residents are invited on Monday to celebrate the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. in Genesis Express’s annual march and church service.

Participants will meet at 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 21 at the A.S.K. Family Resource and Youth Services Center. Genesis member Jonathan White said that after a couple prayers and the traditional “Why We March” speech, marchers would begin walking down Main Street at 10 a.m. They will march until they arrive at Bloomfield Baptist Church, where the service will be held.

The memorial service will begin at Bloomfield Baptist at 11:30 a.m. Bloomfield pastor Rev. Eddie Brown will be the keynote speaker. Although this will be the 13th King service held at Bloomfield, White said that this is the first time Brown will have spoken. White said the theme for this year’s event will be “Where Do We Go From Here?” and will ask people to “look inward.”
