On Jan. 9, Cadiz Police began investigating a case of burglary in the third degree. According to the report, a person or person gained entry into the Federal Material Concrete building on Lafayette Street by breaking the glass on the back door. The burglar(s) stole an “undetermined” amount of cash from the Pepsi machine inside the office. There was also an extensive amount of damage to the machine. J.R. Burnett is the investigating officer.
Drive-thru window shattered
Police opened a criminal mischief case on Jan. 9. According to the report, a person or persons attempted to gain entry in the branch office of the Bank of Cadiz on Main Street by shattering the window of the drive-thru. There are no suspects at this time. Duncan Wiggins is the investigating officer.
Cell phone bashing
Police arrested Belinda Collins, 43, of Main Street, on Jan. 10. According to the report, she struck someone with a cell phone. This call was the second complaint at the residence within 30 minutes. She was charged with assault in the fourth degree.
Suspended license, pot possession
Police arrested Stephen Graydon, 25, of East Noel Drive, on Jan. 10. The report stated that when his driver’s license was run through the dispatch, it was found to be suspended. He also had marijuana in his vehicle. He was charged with operating a vehicle on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
Stolen cell phone at school
On Jan. 10, a 15-year-old was arrested by Cadiz Police and charged with unlawful taking under $300. According to the report, the juvenile took a Motorola cell phone from a teacher’s desk. The phone was recovered and given back to the owner and the juvenile was released to his or her mother.
Dane Bolton, 19, of Edgewood Dr., was arrested on Jan. 10 after he was stopped for failure to dim headlights. The officer received consent to search the vehicle and found a bag of marijuana in the car.
Passenger arrested for pot
Brian Higgins, 20, of Meadowbrook Drive, was arrested by Cadiz Police on Jan. 10. According to the report, he was a passenger in a vehicle in which marijuana was found after a search. Neither Higgins, nor the driver, would admit ownership.
