Funeral services for Bessie Lancaster Mize, 81, of Cadiz, were conducted on Monday, January 21, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Jack Larwa officiated at the services. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville.

Mrs. Mize died on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 3:30 a.m., at her residence of natural causes.

Mrs. Mize was born on May 21, 1926, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie Jefferson and Albirtia Sholar Lancaster.

Mrs. Mize was a homemaker; a musician; and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Meade Mize; a son, Stephen Reed Mize; a sister, Beulah Gray; five brothers, Herman Lancaster, Durwood Lancaster, Claude Lancaster, Wilton Lancaster, and Garnett Lancaster; and two sons in infancy.

Survivors include three sons, David Mize, Kevin Mize and Randall Mize, all of Cadiz; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen Mize and Dennis Harper of Murray; a brother, Joe Lacy Lancaster of Cadiz; a sister, Lula Pearl Sholar of Cadiz; and five grandchildren, Rhiannan Davis, Blake Mize, Fletcher Mize, Cheyenne Mize, and Sage Mize Harper.

Southern Traditions, vocalists, Johnnie Taylor, vocalist and pianist, and Cheyenne Mize, instrumentalist provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Mark Carr, Larry Lancaster, Blake Mize, Joe Lancaster, Jr., Ralph Lancaster and Mike Carr.
