The Cadiz Record

The following reports are taken from uniform citations and arrest reports submitted by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office and the Cadiz Police Department.

Bench Warrant

Trigg County Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Butts executed an arrest warrant on February 13 against Eric E. Jones, 22, of 85 McRidley St. Cadiz for allegedly failing to comply with bond conditions. The warrant issued by Circuit Judge C.A. Woodall III pertains to charges of alleged First-Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Cocaine,) Possession of Cocaine- First Degree, and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in or near a School, dating from November 6. Woodall’s order ordered Jones held without bond and was issued on January 15.

Stolen Property

Major Duncan Wiggins of the Cadiz Police Department arrested 20-year-old Shelby Mart on February 13. The arrest report claims that a witness observed Mart leaving the parking lot of Trigg County Hospital after reporting thefts from vehicles at the location.

Upon investigation, Wiggins located Mart at the Goodnite Motel where he alleged spotting stolen property on a bed from outside the room. The report claimed that the room’s occupant petitioned the courts for a domestic violence order against Mart.

Police charged Mart with violating the protective order and Receiving Stolen Property.

Bench Warrant

On February 14, Trigg County Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Butts arrested Bingham M. Francis, 55, of 25 Jefferson Street, Cadiz on the strength of a warrant issued by District Judge Jamus Redd III.

The warrant alleged that Francis allegedly paid Meuth Concrete Company a check for $2,448.60 for goods and services knowing the check would not be honored. The check, from Legends Bank could not be cashed allegedly due to insufficient funds.

Redd’s warrant ordered Francis held in lieu of $5,000 cash. The defendant is accused of Theft by Deception, a Class-D felony.

DUI

Cadiz Police Officer Chad Grace arrested Brianne Aguiar, 27, of Irvin Road, Cadiz, at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant’s parking lot on February 14. The arrest report claims that Aguiar was found outside her vehicle and carried a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.

Grace alleged that the subject was unable to perform a field sobriety test and recorded a blood alcohol content of .226 on an Intoxalyzer test. The legal blood alcohol content in Kentucky is .08. Police charged Aguiar with her first DUI offense.

DUI

Officer J.R. Burnett arrested Chung Kim, 38, of Pettus Road, Antioch Tenn. on charges of Driving Under the Influence on February 14. The arrest report claims that the investigating officer found Kim passed out at the wheel of his vehicle on the side of Highway 68 with the car still in gear.

Burnett said that the suspect had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his person and failed a field sobriety test. Investigators collected a blood sample from Kim to screen for intoxicants.

DUI, etc.

Cadiz Police Officer Matt Dolezal arrested James Mullen, 36, of Main Street, Hopkinsville after receiving a report that the suspect had been spotted driving on the sidewalks of the Eastgate Apartments on February 16.

The arrest report claims that Mullen fled down Farm Lane before being stopped at a residence on East Noel Drive. Dolezal alleged that he observed “several open whiskey containers” in Mullen’s vehicle. He added that Mullen had no proof of insurance and did not comply with verbal commands. Investigators took a blood sample to test Mullen for intoxicants.

Police charged the suspect with DUI, Fleeing and Evading in the First Degree, Possession of Open Alcohol Containers within a Vehicle, No Proof of Insurance and Resisting Arrest.

Domestic Violence

James Hendon, 33, of Maple Drive Cadiz, faces charges of Assault in the Fourth Degree from a February 17 incident.

Police Officer Matt Dolezal said in his arrest report that he responded to a complaint on Maple Drive. Upon investigation, Dolezal alleged that Hendon physically assaulted his roommate.
