Each year, the Kentucky Watercolor Society’s traveling show, “Aqueous,” comes to the Janice Mason Art Museum, and it never disappoints.

“This is one of our oldest recurring exhibits,” said Museum Administrator Paula Lisowsky. “It’s also a favorite of many of our local patrons. With the very active Watercolor Artists Guild of Lyon and Trigg Counties based right in Cadiz, appreciation for water media is strong.”

The exhibit is officially known as “Aqueous USA 2007 Travel Show” since the paintings come from the 2007 national exhibition. It was held at the Actors Theatre of Louisville and it was the organization’s 30th annual show. Watercolor artists from 17 states competed for inclusion and juror Judi Betts chose the 68 pieces that made up the show. Twenty pieces were then selected for the traveling show. Cadiz is the fifth of 12 locations in which the exhibit will be displayed.

Aqueous will open at the museum on March 5 and will close on March 22. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sudays.
