Sarah Catherine Maeve (Katie) Nation and Thomas Quentin Stallons were united in marriage on Saturday, August 4, 2007, in the sanctuary of the Glasgow Baptist Church. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. James Edwards, cousin of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Nation of Glasgow, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilkie Smith of Summer Shade, and Mrs. Dorothy Nation, and the late James E. Nation of Mt. Eden. Mr. and Mrs. B.E. Lyle of Glasgow are her honorary grandparents.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William C. Stallons, and the grandson of Mrs. Sue King, and the late E.H. King, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Stallons, all of Cadiz.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory silk shantung gown by Watters and Watters. The gown featured a fitted strapless bodice and full skirt, which extended to a semi-cathedral length train accented with pick-ups. Her veil of illusion was edged with the same silk shantung as the dress and scattered with small pearls. She also wore silk elbow-length gloves. Her jewelry included Tiffany pearl earrings, which were a gift from her fiancé, and a strand of pearls from her maternal grandmother. Tucked into her bodice was a lace handkerchief, a special gift from her friend and honorary aunt, Jenny Lou Murphy. She carried three dozen hand-tied red roses.

Amber Riddle, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kayla Stallons, sister of the groom, Kristi Pierce, friend of the bride, Erin Oakley, sorority sister of the bride, Jamie Resch, friend of the bride, Langley Wetzel, sorority sister of the bride, Sarah Murphy, cousin of the bride, Victoria King, cousin of the groom, and Karen Latham, cousin of the groom. All dresses and bouquets were identical.

Annaliese and Josephine McFarlane, friends of the bride and groom, served as flower girls.

The groom wore a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo with black tie and vest and an ivory shirt. His boutonniere consisted of two red rosebuds.

Brian Johnson and Jonathan Cochran, friends of the groom, served as best men. Groomsmen were John Nation, brother of the bride, Will Nash, friend of the bride, Dan Moser, friend of the groom, Tapan Desai, friend of the groom, Patrick Dawson, friend of the groom, Ryan Murphy, cousin of the bride, Josh King, cousin of the groom, Kevin Latham, cousin of the groom, and Ian McFarlane, friend of the bride and groom. Their attire was like that of the groom.

The ring bearer was Blake Palmer, cousin of the bride.

Serving at the guest registry were Amy Huffman, Mary Huffman, Jessica King, and MacKenzie Meyers, cousins of the groom.

Organist, Rev. Mel Crosson, provided a selection of classical and modern music for the ceremony. The bride’s brother, John Nation, sang “At Last” as the bride walked down the aisle. Kristi Pierce sang “When You Say Nothing at All” before the giving of the bride, and Amber Riddle sang “The More I See You” during the lighting of the unity candle.

A reception was hosted after the ceremony in the ballroom at Barren River Lake State Resort. The wedding cake was white with four tiers topped with red roses. The groom’s cake was three tiers in blue and white with the letters “UK” on top and paw prints going up the side. The guests enjoyed a buffet of hors d’oeuvres and danced to the music of the Mysts of Tyme.

Following a honeymoon trip to a resort in the Dominican Republic, the couple is residing in Lexington.
