As usual, if you arrived slightly late, or perhaps blinked, you would have missed hundreds of kids scavenging the grounds for candy and bigger prizes. The whole hunt was over this year in less than seven minutes, which most likely isn’t even a record.
Some eggs contained certificates for bigger prizes, which were handed out at picnic tables in the center of the park after the hunt. Some kids were luckier than others. Eleven-year-old Sarah Love won two full-size bicycles. She said she wasn’t sure, but might give one to her brother.
As Lions member Charlotte Brown allowed a line of children one-by-one to step forward and collect the prizes they won, she commented on how chilly it was.
“We were hovered over the grill cooking hot dogs trying to stay warm,” Brown said laughing.
The hunt was organized by Bill Abel, who has been in charge of the event for several years.
