Funeral services for Jimmy Allen “Jim” Ricks, 73, of Cadiz, were conducted on Sunday, March 30, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Revs. Kevin Roberts and Jason Strickland officiated at the ceremony. Burial followed in East End Cemetery.

Mr. Ricks died on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 5:10 p.m., at Trigg County Hospital.

Mr. Ricks was born on March 10, 1935, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Cletus Earl and Emma Irene Stagner Ricks.

Mr. Ricks was retired from Civil Service; was the Mayor of Cadiz from 1994-1999; was currently serving on the City Council, having served from 1992 to 1994, and from 2001 to present. He was the owner and operator of Jim’s Music and Quality Security. He was the founder of the Lakeland Jamboree; He also was the host of Jim’s Bluegrass Gospel Show on WKDZ Radio Station; was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church, where he was a deacon; and served as Sunday School teacher at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz; and was a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121

Survivors include his wife, Loucretia Ricks of Cadiz; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Michael Fitzsimmons of Cadiz; brother and sister-in-law, Claudie Earl “Bud” and Martha Ricks of Somerset; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Jean and Norris Futrell of Cadiz; uncle and aunt, Delbert and Ronella Stagner of Cadiz; aunt, Myrtle “Doots” Ricks of Calvert City; nephews, Tony Ricks, Alan Ricks, and Stacy Futrell; and niece, Mitzi McNichols; four great-nephews; and five great-nieces; and numerous cousins.

Doug Brewer, Harrison Sholar, Loy Sholar, Franklin Allen, Ann Collins, and Charlie Stamper, vocalists and instrumentalists, provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Tony Ricks, Alan Ricks, Stacy Futrell, Greg McNichols, Hollis Alexander, and Lyn Bailey.
