Rev. Monty Flanigan officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Boyd Cemetery in Trigg County.
Mrs. Thiel died on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 10:17 a.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
Mrs. Thiel was born on December 16, 1937, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin “Frank” and Ida Belle Guier Hammond.
Mrs. Thiel was retired from the New York Post Office and was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Willy Thiel; two brothers, King Chapel Hammond and William Boyd “Billy” Hammond; and a nephew, Michael Ray Hammond.
Survivors include five brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil and Pat Hammond, Aaron Hammond, and Darrell and Dee Hammond, all of Cadiz, and Willard and Judy Hammond of Bardwell, and Doug and Leeann Hammond of Providence; a sister, Bobbie Jean Thomas of Cadiz; a sister-in-law, Fredia Hammond of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
Christy Goreman, pianist, and Mike Goreman, vocalist provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Matt Hammond, Jerry Hammond, James Whittington, Brian Choate, Ben Choate, Josh Thomas, and John Buehler.
