The day started out with a much improved pitching performance by Senior Rachel Gaskey, with her parents in attendance Rachel threw of the best games I have seen her pitch this year though the score might reflected how the game really went her pitching was much improved and something she should be very proud of. The day would see lopsided scores but the future of Lady Cat softball started to uncover the diamonds in the rough with defensive stops by Sam Furr and Kiesha Stewart including a great series of plays to catch a Metcalf runner in a run down in the third game of the day. One of the truly bright spots of this team is the “BFF” tandem of 8th graders in Sierra Bush and Paxton Stroud. To those that don’t know what “BFF” is that is Texting Lingo for “Best Friends For Life.” As for the scoring and scores given up that should change as Coach Hill begins to put in place a off season program to help the girls improve their conditioning and offensive and defensive skills. Starting next week I’ll introduce a few of the returning Lady Cat players in a feature called meet the Lady Cats featuring 6 returning players that returned their survey forms. Also in the coming weeks look for Q&A’s with Kalesha Williams and Rachel Gaskey.
