Auditions were held over the weekend in the Little Theater, where the show will be performed in July. The turnout was pretty decent Friday afternoon as auditions began.
Faythe Rea said she thought competition would be stiff for getting the role of Alice.
“Alice is everywhere,” Rea said. “She’s in every scene. Ask any high school here. She wants the part.”
Children and adults who were auditioning stepped onto the stage at various times to read sections of the script and sing a few songs as Ann Taylor, the music director of the show, played piano. Ezell seemed to be having fun as she loosely directed a group of kids to manically run in circles as they sang.
“This is a song, so everybody run in all directions,” Ezell said.
“What?” a few of the seemingly stunned children responded as their eyes widened.
