Bro. Darrell Young and Rev. Elijah Balentine officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Murray City Cemetery.
Mr. Balentine died on Monday, June 2, 2008, at 8:55 a.m., at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
Mr. Balentine was born on August 9, 1942, in the Kentucky portion of Land Between The Lakes. He was the son of Rev. Felix and Mancy Baker Balentine.
Mr. Balentine was a 1961 graduate of Trigg County High School; graduated from Murray State University; worked at Fisher Price Toys as a manufacturing engineer for 20 years, and at Jakel, Inc., as maintenance supervisor/production manager for 10 years; was retired as juvenile detention maintenance supervisor from McCracken Regional; served on the Murray City Council in the late 1980s; was a constable for 20 years; was a member of Calvary Temple Church, where he served as head deacon for over 30 years; was an avid deer hunter and fisherman; flew ultra light and other aircraft; and played many musical instruments.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lee Balentine; and a sister, Dolly Leitchfield.
Survivors include his wife of over 34 years, Pat Stalls Balentine; a son, Steve Balentine of Paducah; a daughter, Sandra Balentine Zeman of Kuttawa; a stepson, Jeff Culver of Hardin; a stepdaughter and husband, Darla and Aaron Dugger of Murray; two sisters and brother-in-law, Anna and Bill Pinnegar of Paducah and Vernie Brown of Murray; four grandchildren, J.P., Jessica, Kendall, and Kimberly; and several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Toy Ross, Don Hart, Dennis Chambers, Marty Williams, Kendall Balentine, and Jess Farmer.
Honorary pallbearers were Cleo Chambers, Kimberly Zeman, Jessica Balentine, and J.P. Parrish.
