This will be the first year the district will have early release Fridays, although they will not begin until Sept. 5, the first Friday after Labor Day. The early release days will continue until April 3, which is the last Friday before the 2008 spring break. On early release days, students will be dismissed at approximately 1:30 p.m.
The change will have the biggest effect on Trigg County High School because the school’s site-based decision-making council adopted the A/B block schedule before the 2007-2008 school year, meaning that class schedules would alternate every other day. At the high school SBDM council’s July 11 meeting, members decided what the new, early–release schedule would be. Mondays and Wednesdays will always be “A days,” and Tuesday s and Thursdays will always be “B days.” Fridays will consist of both A and B-day classes, but each class will meet for only about 40 minutes.
