Revs. Norman Cotton, Wayne Glass, Monty Flanigan, O.D. Boyd, and Baccus Oliver officiated at the services. Eulogies were given by her grandchildren. Burial followed in the Caldwell Blue Springs Cemetery, Princeton.
Mrs. Oliver died on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11:10 p.m., at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.
Mrs. Oliver was born on June 28, 1914, in Lyon County, Ky., Rolling Hills Community. She was the daughter of the late John D. and Julia Cunningham Gray.
Mrs. Oliver was a member of the Liberty Point Baptist Church, where she was an active member of WMU, Bible School Teacher, and served 50+ years as a Sunday School Teacher; had been a Volunteer Aide for Trigg County Elementary School; and was a Homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dixie Lee Oliver in 1987; son, Roy Dan Oliver; four brothers; and a sister.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. and Della Oliver of Kuttawa; four daughters and son-in-law, Marie and Fred Wright of Erin, Tenn., Rosie Brown of Carbondale, Ill., and the late Dr. Linz Brown, Christine Oliver of Cadiz, and the late Hulit Oliver; and Betty Ann Ladd of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Lawrence Gray of Newburg, Ind.; two sisters, Zelma Stallons of Cadiz and Polly Hammock of Mackinaw, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Vicki Leny of Carbondale, Ill., Debbi Collis of Danville, Calif., Deano Oliver of Herndon, Sharrie Thompson, Baccus Oliver, and Jonathan Oliver, all of Paducah, Norman Cotton, Joe Cotton, and Kendra Terrell, all of Cadiz, Kesha Ladd of Clarksville, Tenn., and Tina Oliver of Prospect; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Missy Fowler, soloist, and Clarence King, pianist, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Deano Oliver, Joe Cotton, Baccus Oliver, Jonahtan Oliver, Linnes Thompson, Bryce Cotton, Garrett Thompson, and Bryer Cotton.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Lester, Clayton Ladd, Rod Kennedy, Tony Fowler, Sonny Gray, Scotty Gray, Elliott Gray, Jimmy Stallons, Jerry Stallons, Adult Women II Sunday School Class of Liberty Point Baptist Church, Martha Hammond, Joan Turner, Earlene Gray, Billie Thomas, Connie Anderson, Grace Allen, Wandine Bryant, Jean Taylor, Mae Rogers, Mildred Jackson, Bea Ellis, Lucille Tumblison, and Betty Lester.
