A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2008, at the Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd., for Jerry Wayne Land, 63, of Cadiz, who died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at 11:20 p.m., at Trigg County Hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Land was born on January 14, 1945, in Sundown, Texas. He was the son of the late James Albert and Oma Elvira Miner Land.

Mr. Land was a retired U.S. Army veteran with 23 years of service, having served four tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict; was a member of the VFW Club; and was a member of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Land; and four brothers, J.L. Land, James Land, Clifford Land, and John Land.

Survivors include his wife, Vicky Gail Dawson Land of Cadiz; son, James Boyd Gannon, Jr., of London, England; six daughters, Crystal Jerwayne Landor of Ft. Polk, La., Tabitha Roseanne Land of Kansas City, Mo., Jessica Elaine Adamson, Kacey Jo Adams and Danyel Joanne Reed, all of Cadiz, and Paula Marie Peterson of London, England; brother, Leonard Land of Levelland, Texas; three sisters, Bonnie Stodgsdill of Levelland, Texas, Shirley McDonald of Breckenridge, Texas, and Emma Brakebill of Idabel, Okla.; and seven grandchildren, Danielle Adamson, Zachary Mason Hinsen, Tyler Hinsen, Issac Sanchez, Michael Willard, Jr., Ethan Tyler Land, and Damon Land.

Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
