The 7th Grade and 8th Grade Boys Basketball teams added a couple of victories to help improve both of their records. The 7th Grade team is a perfect 8 – 0 and the 8th Grade team is 7 – 1 (5 – 0 in the district). Our guys are doing so well that I overheard someone mention to someone else that our Midcats must be jelly, because they are on a roll!

The guys ventured to Lyon County on Tuesday for a rematch from the previous week. The 7th Grade defeated Lyon 37 – 16. The top scorers of the game were Luke McKenzie with 17 points and Keshawn Davis with eight. The second game fared just as well as the first, as the 8th Grade team won 67 – 21. The top scorers of the game were Jermya Love with 18 points, DeOnquez Nance with 14 points, Jordan Davis with 13 points and David Wease with nine.

The Midcats visited Crittenden County on Thursday for their first match-up against the Rockets. The 7th Grade team won the first game with the score of 36 – 13. The top scorers of the game were Keshawn Davis with 12 points, Cole Gardner with nine points and Luke McKenzie with eight. The 8th Grade continued their winning streak by defeating their rivals with a score of 66 – 32. The top scorers of the game were DeOnquez Nance with 16, Jordan Davis with 14, Jermya Love with 11, David Wease with nine and Austin Durham with five.

Our Midcats have a weeklong stay at home this week. By the time you read this, our boys will have played Todd County this past Monday. Trigg hasn’t played Todd in over seven years (I hope we won). Thursday, we will complete our district schedule with a make-up game against Crittenden County. And, lastly, our Midcats will host our first ever Trigg County Middle School Basketball Homecoming this coming Saturday. Our 8th Grade boy’s and girl’s teams will be hosting Lone Oak. The first game will start approximately at 11:00 am, with the second game starting around 12:30. Between the games, there will be the crowning of the homecoming king and queen. I feel that the whole day is going to be a lot of fun.

Our Midcats would like to thank everyone involved with our basketball programs. We would like to thank everyone involved in making sure that our buses are on time, that we depart on time and that we arrive at our destination on time. We would also like to thank our 3 – Point Club for the nourishment they provide our boys before every road game. And, of course, we can’t forget our wonderful administration, faculty and staff who have made my job as head coach a complete breeze. Thank you all for all that you do for us. GO MIDCATS!!!
