Wildcats edge Livingston Central

CADIZ – Jonathan King pumped in a game-high 23 points to lead Trigg County to a hard-fought 64-58 win over Livingston Central Friday night in an early regular-season District 5 boys’ basketball matchup.

Trigg County outscored Livingston Central in two of the last three quarters after exiting the first quarter in a 7-7 deadlock with the visiting Cardinals. Each team enjoyed different leads in the district battle.

Trigg County led Livingston Central 30-21 when the game entered halftime. Livingston Central pulled even after outscoring Trigg County 27-18 in the third quarter. The Wildcats limited Livingston Central offensively in the final frame, outscoring the Cardinals 16-10 in the fourth quarter to secure the district win.

Bradley Davis was the second of three Trigg County players to reach double figures in the scoring column. Davis scored 15 points for the Wildcats. Shelton Burruss netted 11 as Trigg County won its second game in two tries as part of the 2008-09 season. With the win, Mike Wright-coached Trigg County improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the 5th District

Dustin White added seven points for homestanding Trigg County. Zeke Wright and Jeremy Stamps rounded out the Trigg County scoring with four points apiece.

Tate Smith led Livingston Central with 22 points. Brandon Armstrong scored 13 points and Justin Kittel tossed in 12 for the Cardinals.

Livingston Central dropped to 0-2 after suffering the setback.
